Ellen C. Gendler, MD ![]() Ellen C. Gendler, MDDr. Ellen Gendler is a board-certified dermatologist in New York City. After receiving her B.A. degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, Dr. Gendler earned her M.D. degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. Following an internship in Internal Medicine, she did a residency in Dermatology at the Skin and Cancer Unit of New York University (NYU), with additional training at St. John’s Hospital for Diseases of the Skin in London, England. A Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at NYU Langone Medical Center, Dr. Gendler was a co-director of its Contact Dermatitis division for many years before bringing to fruition the NYU Center for Skin Health and Appearance. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and a former trustee of the Dermatology Foundation. Dr. Gendler lectures widely at professional meetings such as those of the AAD and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and has authored a host of scientific publications. She is also actively involved in teaching injection techniques to physicians around the world, teaching residents at NYU Langone Medical Center, and serving as a preceptor for the Women’s Derm Society. She has consulted for many major corporations, such as Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Lever Brothers, Warner-Lambert, Procter & Gamble, and Ortho Pharmaceutical, and for injectable- and neurotoxin-producing companies such as Inamed, Genzyme, Allergan, Medicis, Merz, and Galderma. Dr. Gendler was the principal investigator for Hylaform, one of the first hyaluronic acid fillers to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States, and participated in the clinical trials of Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) prior to its approval. A nationally ranked squash player while in college, Dr. Gendler’s hobbies are many: tennis, golf, biking, spinning, and gardening, to name a few. Her husband, Dr. James Salik, is an Associate Professor of Gastroenterology at NYU Langone Medical Center, and they are parents of two sons, one of whom is doing his Cardiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, while the other is a law student in New York City. | ||||

In addition, he enjoys working in the clinical and research fields. Over the past eight years, Dr. Yoelin has developed a keen interest in the use of neurotoxins, dermal fillers, and collagen stimulators. He has long been very interested and heavily involved in the very important role that these injectables play in the field of nonsurgical facial aesthetics, and will continue to focus on this area in the future. Dr. Yoelin speaks at numerous professional events and conferences throughout the country. For example, he speaks annually at every major ophthalmology meeting regarding all FDA-approved facial injectables. Sykes is Professor Emeritus and former Director of Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. He is currently the Director of Facial Plastic Surgery at The Roxbury Institute in Beverly Hills, California, and the founder and director of the Sykes Face Sculpting Institute in Beverly Hills. Dr. Sykes served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) for 10 years, and as its Western Region Vice President, Vice President of Education, and President (in 2010). He recently co-chaired the Many Faces of Giving campaign for the AAFPRS and helped raise over $4 million for facial plastic surgery education, humanitarian efforts, and research. He has been awarded the prestigious William K. Wright Award by the AAFPRS and the 1887 award for community service and humanitarian missions by the same organization. Dr. Sykes has edited 6 textbooks, written over 200 scientific articles, book chapters, and other papers, and given over 1,000 lectures locally, nationally, and internationally. He has taught anatomy and injection technique for neuromodulators, and is an instructor in the use of many filling agents.
